Keen Handmade Design
Keen Handmade Design is a personal initiative by Kinana Roukbi, a Syrian designer based in Beirut- Lebanon. for traditional heritage crafts working in partnership as a body with craftspeople, groups, as well as individuals who remain living in Syria and Lebanon and carries the traditional craft skills, and works towards a crafts away from charitable means to advance public knowledge of traditional and heritage crafts, in particular, but not exclusively, through its modern and twisted designs. healthy and sustainable framework for the future. Mission, will support and promote traditional and heritage. We aim to create job opportunities for those women who needed and can’t go out of homes.
Handmade design is a second career for Kinana Roukbi, after spending 16 years working in Graphic Design, which has influenced her analytical approach to stitch and craft, and seeking to challenge the preconceptions of traditional embroidery to create artwork that is original and refreshing.
She makes textiles using predominantly Silkscreen printing mixed with embroidery and alongside her personal work has designed and made collections of textile home-wares for interiors to present.
